SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES
These guidelines will assist you in completing the scholarship application form correctly and completely.

To assist the greatest number of individuals, a limited number of PARTIAL scholarships will be provided. Scholarship applications must be received by the Leading Together 2010 Team no later than Friday, September 18, 2009, at 11:59 pm EDT.

Scholarships are available for PARTIAL funding of either the cost of travel or the cost of hotel accommodations, which ever is more expensive.

Also available are a limited number of registration scholarships; however,
  • PLWHIV/AIDS qualify for a special rate of $50.00 ($75.00 for late and on-site registration); and
  • Facilitators get a special rebate of $50.00 off their registration (unless they also qualify for the PLWHIV/AIDS special registration rate).

PLWHIV/AIDS can also qualify for a scholarship to cover the cost of food, but must apply through the regular scholarship application process.

We encourage everyone to apply to the scholarship program; however, other funding sources should be identified in the event that your application is unsuccessful.

The Canadian AIDS Society will coordinate the scholarship travel arrangements or scholarship hotel arrangements, while the portion not covered by scholarship (the less expensive of travel or hotel) is the responsibility of the participant. Individuals receiving hotel accommodation allocations will be required to share a room.

SCHOLARSHIP REVIEW PROCESS
Individuals from the five regions of the Canadian AIDS Society (Pacific/Yukon, Prairies/NWT, Ontario/Nunavut, Quebec and Atlantic) have been selected through a nomination process to review applications and award scholarships. Scholarship applicants will be evaluated objectively on the basis of the information provided on the application forms.

SCHOLARSHIP DISTRIBUTION
Preference will be given to individuals possessing one or more of the following attributes: PLWHIV/AIDS; individuals from or working with under-represented communities; individuals working on the front line of HIV/AIDS work; and individuals facilitating skills training workshops and posters.
